Program Objectives: This course is designed for students who seek to achieve a high level of proficiency and intercultural competence by developing effective communication and analytical skills in Spanish. The program adopts a holistic linguistic approach, integrating both language and cultural learning methods. Upon completion of the course: 1. Students will reach level B1.2 in Spanish according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). 2. Students will develop intercultural competence. 3. Students will acquire advanced communication skills, including translation and summarization. 4. Students will develop teamwork abilities, demonstrating initiative, time management, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. 5. Students will achieve effective oral and written communication. 6. Students will develop independent thinking and adaptability to different environments. 7. Students will gain intercultural awareness, enabling them to interact successfully in multicultural environments. 8. Students will acquire Spanish writing and speaking skills. Upon completion of the program, students’ Spanish proficiency will reach level B1.2, which means: 1. When the topic is familiar, students will be able to understand extended speech and lectures, and follow complex lines of argument. 2. They will be able to understand most TV news and current affairs programs. 3. They will be able to understand most films in standard dialects. 4. They will be able to read articles and reports concerned with contemporary issues in which the writer adopts particular attitudes or viewpoints. 5. They will be able to understand contemporary literary prose. 6. They will be able to interact with native speakers with a degree of fluency and spontaneity. 7. They will be able to take an active part in discussions in familiar contexts, explaining and supporting their opinions. 8. They will be able to produce clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to their interests. 9. They will be able to explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. 10. They will be able to write clear, detailed texts on subjects related to their interests. 11. They will be able to write essays or reports conveying information or giving reasons in support of or against a particular point of view. 12. They will be able to write letters highlighting the personal significance of events and experiences. In addition, students will acquire other linguistic and non-linguistic skills: 1. Advanced communication skills, including translation and summarization. 2. Advanced writing and oral expression skills. 3. Enhanced intercultural competence and understanding of cultural differences. 4. High-level critical thinking and interpretive skills, demonstrating awareness of how meaning is created and understood. 5. Familiarity with information and language technologies. 6. The ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrating initiative, time management, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence.
