課程架構
修課指引
The foundational sequence—International Relations I and II—introduces the field’s core concepts and frameworks, giving students the entry-level knowledge needed for systematic analysis of international politics. Building on this base, the core sequence asks students to choose two of three courses—International Political Economy, International Security, and International Organizations—to establish the breadth of substantive issues and analytic approaches required for competent inquiry.
Students then deepen their expertise through thematic seminars, selecting two of five offerings: International Law, Theories of International Relations, International Political Economy, Domestic Politics and International Relations, and Foreign Policy Decision-Making. These discussion-driven seminars extend the core by linking theories to empirical debates and by cultivating the skills central to analyzing complex international problems.
Finally, the methods and cross-domain component strengthens students’ capacity to integrate diverse social-science techniques with knowledge from fields outside political science when analyzing international affairs. Students choose one course—either Research and Writing or Experimental Methods in Political Science. Each course carries two credits; the specialization totals fourteen credits.
