Level 1 — Foundations. Students begin with a required course, International Political Economy, which introduces core concepts and analytic frames for understanding how the contemporary international political–economic system is organized and how it operates. This stage lays the groundwork for subsequent applied and case-based learning.<br>Level 2 — Applications. Two required courses—U.S. Foreign Policy and East Asian Democratization (Seminar)—situate Taiwan’s geoeconomic and diplomatic position within the two most consequential forces shaping its environment: post-WWII U.S. external strategy and the evolving political landscape across the Asia-Pacific. Analyses of Taiwan’s challenges in international political economy therefore proceed from its immediate geopolitical setting, diplomatic constraints, economic development, and democratization.<br>Level 3 — Thematic Cases. With Taiwan’s risk profile clearly defined, students take two required courses—Global Supply Chains (Seminar) and Government and Business—that link industrial policy to state–business relations. The emphasis is on deep, practice-oriented analysis of how public and private actors can address geoeconomic risks that bear directly on Taiwan.<br>Level 4 — Integrative Capstone. The final required course, Crisis Management and Risk Analysis, synthesizes prior training through scenario exercises. Students apply what they have learned in the first three stages—together with professional tools in crisis response and risk assessment—to diagnose geoeconomic shock scenarios and develop actionable response strategies.
