學習目標
1. Students will be able to understand the characteristics of ecosystems within protected areas by learning theories of ecology and biodiversity and identifying key conservation values and objectives.
2. Students will be able to analyze the cultural and human impact factors in natural resource management through case discussions and field observations, linking these factors to developing protected areas and local communities.
3. Students will be able to develop a comprehensive management plan based on the principles and procedures of protected area planning and critique the plan's strengths, weaknesses, and applicable contexts.
4. Students can reasonably assess the management effectiveness of protected areas or national parks through interdisciplinary discussions and practical evaluations and propose feasible adjustment recommendations.
課程架構

修課指引
This specialization focuses on managing natural protected areas and planning national parks, emphasizing ecological, planning, management, recreation, and cultural perspectives. It builds on the foundations of biodiversity concepts, integrating human and natural resources with sustainable agricultural tourism from the landscape architecture program. This field includes five courses totaling 15 credits, summarized as follows:<br>1. Foundational Courses:<br>a. Introductory Biodiversity: Provides fundamental ecology, biodiversity, and conservation theory concepts. This is a foundational course for understanding protected areas.<br>b. Human Dimensions of Natural Resources Management: Introduces the factors influencing the management and governance of natural resources.<br>c. Sustainable Agriculture Tourism: Focuses on developing sustainable tourism in Taiwan's leisure agriculture context. Through lectures and case studies, students learn planning and management methods, covering productive landscapes and sustainable development concepts, which link protected areas with local development.<br>2. Theoretical Courses<br>a. Management of Natural Protected Areas: Covers principles, designation, management, and performance evaluation of protected areas. Field visits and practical internships enhance students' understanding and appreciation of protected area management.<br>b. National Park Planning and Management: It uses Taiwan’s large, integrated protected areas with established management offices and national parks as a model. The course discusses planning concepts, current management practices, historical context, and the integration of diverse objectives.
